Calories closer to normal

Started today with a bowl of 1/2 cup (125ml) yogourt and 110g of my rhubarb. And coffee.More coffee for my morning break.
Lunch was tuna salad, avocado (1/4 of an avocado, 45g) celery, radish and jicama.
By the time Doug got home at 6:30 I was really hungry so we had a huge Taco Salad. 60g mixed greens, 115g lean ground beef, 70g chopped tomatoes, 50g shredded cheese and 45g of sour cream. It was delish and I probably ate more than I really needed to just because I wolfed it down.
A few minutes ago I poured myself a diet ginger-ale and had three of the little piller's tid-bitz.
Calories for today 1,407 and 30g carbohydrates.

another little snack

After blogging last night I went ahead and had a snack of cheeses (60g) and a couple of very large strawberries. This upped my total calories for the day to 1,247.

Not enough calories? I don't get it.

Got up early to go to physio/exercise. Had a mug of strong coffee and a bowl of yogourt and rhubarb much like last night's.After working out I came home pretty hungry so made a three egg omelet with mushrooms and asparagus and another cup of coffee.
Yet more coffee for my break.
Dinner was two kinds of cheese, about 60g total some sliced chicken breast and roast beef. Also the usual celery, jicama and radish.
By the time for my evening break I had already finished all my water so bought a tasty diet Dr. Pepper - starting to think I may have had too much caffeine today.
Came home and made lunch for tomorrow. Cut up a celery and had a few slices left that wouldn't fit in the bag so I ate them up. I might still have a little cheese and some fruit since....
Only 995 calories and 35g carbohydrates for today! I just don't get it.

Boring old day

Made coffee and drank it while I started to cook breakfast.Trying to manage with just one egg and one piece of bacon (though the bacon slice is much larger than those I had last month).
Didn't get a break until almost 4 hours after breakfast and was quite hungry by that time. Hard-boiled egg and coffee.
Lunch was chicken salad (115g chicken, one tablespoon of mayo, a few capers, paprika), 100g of celery and about 50g each of radishes and jicama.
Didn't know what to do about dinner as I'm all alone tonight. Started with a salad and it just sort of grew. Mixed greens, 1/2 medium tomato, 2 large mushrooms, several slices of cucumber, 40g each of chicken breast, roast beef and cheddar cheese with a couple of tablespoons of creamy ranch dressing.
Since once again I'm very low on calories I'm going to enjoy another bowl of yogourt and some of the yummy rhubarb.

Pretty much back to normal

Coffee.Aha! One egg, one slice of bacon (20g) torn into two pieces.
Went to physio/work-out this morning before work. Did very well. Extra abs today.

Coffee and a hard-boiled egg for am break.
Tuna salad for lunch with a quarter of an avocado instead of the half I always used to have. It's taken me awhile but I've discovered that I really can get by on much smaller portions. Now if I could only buy 3/4 sized cans of tuna. Also 100g of celery and 60g of radishes.
Rest of the coffee and 25g of cheese. (Still Moonstruck, still white grace - love this stuff).
Dinner was basically left-overs from the last two nights. 50g of steak, 60g of salmon, more asparagus and a salad.

Made up some more rhubarb tonight. Had 100g with a tablespoon of coffee cream.Totals: 1,435 calories and 29g carbohydrates.

Good morning Mr Scale

As previously posted I did have a regular-sized mug of decaf Tuesday evening. Not too many calories there. So this morning I finally had the nerve to get weighed after the Mojito and beer-soaked Rally weekend. I was hoping, since I've had very little the past two days, that I was either back down to the point I was at when I left or at least just slightly up. I'm please to report that I'm down albeit just half a pound from where I was six days ago. I also still feeling more energetic since coming home and am thinking about going to the scooter meet tonight in spite of doing physio this morning and working to six this evening. Wish me luck

Still eating less than normal.

Up early (very early) had a shower, made coffee and had some yogourt with a couple of spoons of yesterday's rhubarb on top. Makes a nice change.
Before I left for work I hard-boiled some eggs and had one since I thought I wouldn't make it to lunch.
Coffee, appropriate for morning coffee break.
I only ate about half of the protein I had brought for lunch. 45g chicken breast, 25g of the lovely Moonstruck White Grace cheese and the usual selection of veg - 100g celery and 50g each of radish and jicama.
For dessert I brought along more of the yummy rhubarb.

By the time Doug got home from work at 6pm I was really quite hungry. I had found great big steaks at Peppers and since I had gotten used to this kind of eating over the week-end I picked them up. My portion was 186g cooked, also 60g asparagus and largish side salad.I'm thinking I might have a cup of decaf later but will post the picture in the morning.

Total so far: 1,071 calories and 27g carbohydrates.

And because I don't have a general blog...

I don't usually do the livejournal/myspace quiz thing but this one was too good to pass up.

Too weird

After going to bed very early and falling deeply asleep immediately I woke up around 3am and got up for a couple of hours. Going back to bed I was able to get several more hours. When I finally got up the first thing I wanted was - of course, coffee.Wasn't particularly hungry, just had a hard-boiled egg and 25g of the Moonstruck White Grace cheese before heading out to exercise.
After a really good workout we went to get some groceries, then a couple more errands and before I knew it I was hungry and it was dinner time. 150g of salmon, 60g of asparagus and a big dab of butter.
Also the usual salad.
One of the things bought today was fresh rhubarb so I had a bowl with some of my experiment in crisp topping made with low-carb ingredients and a generous helping of heavy cream.
The decadent (relatively) dessert was mostly because when I added up fitday I was about 2,500 calories short for the day - by that I mean that I had eaten less than 600 calories, and exercised enough to (with baseline and background metabolism) burn over 3,000. Not healthy. I don't know why I wasn't hungry - I didn't feel sick or anything. Tomorrow I'll be back at work and probably bored so I'm guessing I'll have to start being careful again.
My total for today was 941 calories and only 16g of carbohydrates.

Salt Spring Rally III - Day 3 Sunday

We made coffee to try and get going after a late night of nonsense and giggling and Pass the Pigs. Debra had bought some Salt Spring Organic Coffee. Mmmm coffee. Now I have to admit I've actually missed a picture here. While we were waiting for the ferry to take us over to Crofton we all had some hard-boiled eggs. I had one to but managed to somehow eat it without thinking about my camera. It may have had something to do with sleep-deprivation.

A short ride brought us to Chemainus where we always have brunch at Bonny Martin. I ordered my favorite the green onion, mushroom and cheese omelet and had a side salad instead of hash browns. Their house dressing is a lovely creamy dill that I always enjoy. If you actually read this blog regularly you may be thinking "but she has that omelet pretty regularly on weekends". Yes, this is true, but it was three or four years ago at Bonny Martin where I first had this combination and now I just make feeble copies at home.
One of the other attractions at this restaurant is their homemade jams. I think it was black current but I may have heard someone say loganberry. I asked Dick for a bite of toast just so I could taste it. Excellent.
On the way home we stopped in Cowichan Bay. Carol bought a "dark chocolate chip spelt cookie" and offered me a piece. It was pretty tasty.
Our next stop was Cherry Point Vineyards where I tasted five different wines. I know it's hard to see the amount in the glass but it's really not more than two sips. So 10 sips of wine. I liked the Pinot Gris and the Solera Blackberry, a port.
Finally home around 5:30. After unpacking, a little sorting and telling of stories Doug made me dinner of pork chop with applesauce and a side salad.
While we were watching yesterday's Doctor Who "Blink" (very scary) on the computer I wanted to try some of the cheeses I had picked up. Doug and I split these plates equally. Tomorrow I'll start weighing things again.
After overdoing it for the past couple of days I really ate pretty lightly today. For those familiar with low-carb I'm testing moderate on the old ketostik.

Salt Spring Rally III - Day 2 Saturday

Luckily the cabin came with a coffee maker and I was clever enough to bring some coffee. I wasn't quite clever enough since we had to get more for Sunday morning.Another mug of coffee and the great breakfast made through cooperation. Andrew and Carol fried up the bacon and Debra made french toast with a trail mix loaf (raisins & nuts) and served it up with warm Summerland strawberry syrup. Yum.
We spent a couple of hours wandering around Ganges shopping at the market and in the regular shops. I bought some cheeses at the Moonstruck booth and just one cookie at one of the bake stands. I also bought a great satchel with a Vespa stencil on the front. We went to Shipstones English Pub for lunch. I ordered the Salt Spring salad - mixed greens, sliced apple, poppyseed chevre, caramelized walnuts and a lime vinegrette. The only problem that you can't appreciate from the picture is that the plate was approximately 35cm square (14 inches). It was huge. I stuck it in the middle of the table and offered it to everyone. It was very, very good.I had also ordered the chicken wings with spicy Thai peanut sauce. These were also very good. I couldn't finish either the wings or the salad.
I did finish one of Debra's sweet potato fries. These were fabulous. I would recommend this pub to anyone visiting Salt Spring Island. Ask for Salma and tell her #62 sent you - sorry in-joke.
When we finally got back to the cabin and changed out of all our soaking clothes we lolled about aimlessly for awhile before Deborah made a nice cup of herbal tea.
Then we got into the beer.
And another.
Had the rest of the steak, more of the same green salad from last night (freshly made from the same ingredients) and some of the potato salad that Dick had made up take with us yesterday.
Some time later I nibbled on four celery sticks.
Half of one of the skor chip cookies.
And another beer.
Quite late in the evening I remembered the hazelnut cookie I had bought at the market and had that and some water.
Way too many calories and carbs but one of the most fun days I've had in a long time.
