Birthday tomorrow, steak tonight.

Coffee.Wasn't really hungry - shopping and lots of food prep for tomorrow's big picnic. Ate the last of the yogourt out of the container - about a serving (1/2 cup). I put 2/3 in fitday just in case.
Lunch of sausage and egg just because it was easy while I had a ton of other stuff happening in the kitchen.
One of the many things I was making was my favorite and (if I say so myself) famous chocolate chip cookies. Back in my fat days I would eat spoonfuls of the dough while making the cookies. Today I took a small pinch out of the bowl, weighed it and enjoyed. Fitday credited this little morsel with 60 calories and 8 carbs!
Birthday boy got his steak dinner a day early since I have no idea when we'll get home tomorrow of what we'll be doing for dinner. I made a larger than average salad and we each had a barbecued rib eye steak. My steak was 282g before cooking and I left 58g on my plate. (Steak and eggs for breakfast tomorrow if I remember). The drink is diet root beer.
Total for today 1,268 calories and only 30g of carbohydrates. That's okay - I'll make up for it tomorrow!

A quiet day for a change...

Woke up at 6:30 even though we didn't turn in until midnight last night. Blech. Coffee helped.1/2 cup of yogourt and 1/2 cup rhubarb (prepared with splenda).
Went out to exercise. Haven't been since last Monday because I couldn't get away from work and on Thursday morning when I usually would have gone I was so knackered I just did my core exercises on the living room floor. When I came back I had a piece of cheese.
Did a bit of tidying then decided I really needed something substantial. I had a little piece of steak left over from last night's barbecue so had "Steak and eggs".
Then, since I was still feeling tired and headachey I had another big mug of coffee.
For dinner I had made beef stew with a few pieces of carrots and jicama in place of potatoes. I had 100g of meat, a couple of pieces of carrot and jicama as well as some steamed broccoli and a side salad. I thickened the broth with a little xanthan gum to save carbs and used my hand blender to smooth out the lumps. It was quite tasty.
Still had a headache coming up on 10pm and wondering if it's because I really didn't have very much today. (1,110 calories to this point). Finished off the almonds that were sitting out after yesterday (after weighing them, 40g).
The almonds tasted so good I felt like having a little something more so had 80g of blueberries in 1/2 oz. (1 tablespoon, 15ml) of coffee cream.
Totals for the day 1,411 calories and 42g of carbohydrates.

Another meal out - what's happening?

Began the day with coffee, 1/2 cup of yogourt and 1/2 cup of rhubarb.Went out to my mom's place on my scooter to pick up her mail and water her plants as she's away for awhile. Then headed over to Rob's, traded scooter for car and went barbecue shopping. Got hungry and stopped at the White Spot on Douglas St. but there was a half hour wait for lunch so ended up at the slightly tonier Canoe Club instead. I had a Cobb salad that was lovely.
Back to get my scooter then home and after a couple of false starts got the BBQ assembled. Had celebratory beers. (I had one).
And a small handful of almonds.
Waiting for dinner time to roll around I made coffee so that we could stay awake for the steak dinner we had planned.
We started with the usual side salad while waiting for the meat.
This was a prime rib cut steak weighing almost a pound (350g) before cooking. I ate about 2/3 of it. It was tender and very tasty and the barbecue seems to work perfectly.
Once again I'm really guessing when putting amount in fitday so this is rather approximate, however it's in the neighborhood of 1,650 calories and 41g of carbohydrates.

Surf 'n' Turf at The Keg!

Regular breakfast of bacon, 2 eggs and coffee. For lunch I had a tiny turkey sandwich made with the thinnest slices I could cut of a whole wheat/flax loaf from the Village Patisserie. Also celery, radishes and jicama and a few raspberries with a tablespoon of cream.Americano from the Patisserie for after lunch.
Since we were going out for dinner tonight I thought I should have a decent snack in the afternoon rather than go more than six hours between meals. One hard-boiled egg and 30g of almonds.
Early on (like yesterday) I decided this was going to be a two drink dinner. I started with an apple cider. Certainly there are many drinks with fewer calories and less sugar but I needed something refreshing and this really appealed.
Kama and Rob each ordered appetizers. Here I had one small piece of Rob's calimari with teriyaki sauce. Spicy.
Here's the plate I was presented with. Steak with a scoop of mixed seafood in a creamy sauce, nearly half a tomato, a huge baked potato full of three cheese butter and a piece of grilled zucchini that Doug didn't want. I ate all of the seafood (there's a bit of asparagus in there too), the tomato, zucchini, about 2/3 of my steak and three bites of potato.
Everyone else at the table had huge, decadent desserts but I was still looking for my second drink so I ordered a Billy Miner Coffee which is coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua and whipped cream. It was fabulous.
Totals for today about one million, five hundred thousand calories and a couple hundred grams of carbohydrates. It was good though.

Still eating less than normal.

Up early (very early) had a shower, made coffee and had some yogourt with a couple of spoons of yesterday's rhubarb on top. Makes a nice change.
Before I left for work I hard-boiled some eggs and had one since I thought I wouldn't make it to lunch.
Coffee, appropriate for morning coffee break.
I only ate about half of the protein I had brought for lunch. 45g chicken breast, 25g of the lovely Moonstruck White Grace cheese and the usual selection of veg - 100g celery and 50g each of radish and jicama.
For dessert I brought along more of the yummy rhubarb.

By the time Doug got home from work at 6pm I was really quite hungry. I had found great big steaks at Peppers and since I had gotten used to this kind of eating over the week-end I picked them up. My portion was 186g cooked, also 60g asparagus and largish side salad.I'm thinking I might have a cup of decaf later but will post the picture in the morning.

Total so far: 1,071 calories and 27g carbohydrates.
