Birthday tomorrow, steak tonight.

Coffee.Wasn't really hungry - shopping and lots of food prep for tomorrow's big picnic. Ate the last of the yogourt out of the container - about a serving (1/2 cup). I put 2/3 in fitday just in case.
Lunch of sausage and egg just because it was easy while I had a ton of other stuff happening in the kitchen.
One of the many things I was making was my favorite and (if I say so myself) famous chocolate chip cookies. Back in my fat days I would eat spoonfuls of the dough while making the cookies. Today I took a small pinch out of the bowl, weighed it and enjoyed. Fitday credited this little morsel with 60 calories and 8 carbs!
Birthday boy got his steak dinner a day early since I have no idea when we'll get home tomorrow of what we'll be doing for dinner. I made a larger than average salad and we each had a barbecued rib eye steak. My steak was 282g before cooking and I left 58g on my plate. (Steak and eggs for breakfast tomorrow if I remember). The drink is diet root beer.
Total for today 1,268 calories and only 30g of carbohydrates. That's okay - I'll make up for it tomorrow!

Friday - Pretty hungry the last couple of days.

My morning coffee.Half a cup of yogourt and 83g of blueberries (although there was quite a bit of juice too in the bottom of the container).
Back from a splendid workout and feeling very empty. More coffee and an omelet - three eggs, 1/2 a zucchini (140g) a handful of crumbled bacon (27g) and a tiny bit of shredded cheddar left over from last night's salad (about 15g).
For my dinner break at work I took one of the Clover Leaf tuna steaks that I've previously enjoyed warm over a salad or as an entree with cooked veg on the side. Today I just squeezed it out of it's little pouch into a bowl and ate it cold with my little baggie of raw vegetables. It was really good chilled this way!
For dessert 30g of almonds and most of a coke zero.
Another break and a greasy little piece of room temperature cheddar.
As usual getting home from work, even when it's after 9pm requires a snack. Tonight between laziness and an empty fridge I chose a little can of sardines in mustard sauce.
Then still wanting something sweet - a sugar-free candy, this one is maple flavoured.

Calories for today 1,424 and 43g of carbohydrates.

More compliments/comments every day at work!

Lately at work I get a comment or compliment at least once a day from people I know and sometimes from people I don't ever remember seeing before. Yay!

Morning coffee. One slice bacon, 2 eggs.
Coffee at break time.
Lunch is egg salad with capers (2 eggs), celery, one and a half of those little cucumbers, four radishes and half a cup of rhubarb.
For dinner a taco salad. One of the few times I'm tempted to eat past the point of satiety. Lettuce, seasoned ground beef (140g), half a medium tomato, 40g of cheese (I took more than usual because I had not eaten by cheese snack earlier in the day), and two dollops of sour cream (43g). All told about 650 calories just for the salad.
Afterwards I had a mixed berry flavour creamsicle. At 20 calories obviously not real food - but it still tastes like a treat.
Total for today 1,332 calories and 30g of carbohydrates.

tired and lazy, or just lazy... here's Wednesday's eats

Breakfast was coffee, half a cup of yogourt and just over half a cup of rhubarb.Coffee break.
One of those little cans of smoked tuna slices with ginger, a baby cucumber, radishes, no-sugar-added jell-o pudding and celery.
Afternoon break. Diet ginger-ale, 30g almonds and a hard-boiled egg.
Dinner was a rather large pork chop (190g), some sauted zucchini and a side salad.
More rhubarb for dessert.
Wanting a little something later on I found I still have dark chocolate covered ginger in the freezer - one piece.
Totals for Wednesday: 1,350 calories and 45g of carbohydrates.

Dinner alone again.

Good morning - it must be time for coffee. One strip of bacon and two fried eggs.
More coffee.
Pastrami (60g), cheese (30g), four radishes, one mini-cucumber, some celery and some fiesta fruit sugar-free jell-o.
Didn't know what to have for dinner. A frittata seemed easiest. Included with the three eggs are 100g of broccoli, 4 large mushrooms and about 25g of that yummy bacon I cooked up and froze the other day.
About 1/2 a cup of rhubarb sweetened with splenda for dessert.
1,377 calories and only 28g of carbohydrates. And I exercised today - can't wait for weigh-in tomorrow morning!

Lots of pictures, but really not that much food.

Holiday Monday - of course I have all Mondays off for the summer while I'm working Saturdays but thought I'd have a scooter outing just the same. Coffee. One slice of bacon, two fried eggs.

Went roaming around with fellow scooter enthusiast Rob (we both ride 50cc Honda Jazz/Metropolitan scooters and are very in sync with each other's riding style which makes it fun). Avoided the more popular beaches because of the holiday and ended up at Mount Doug, which does have a small beach area. After we wandered around poking at dead things in the shallows for awhile we sat on a log and had a snack. I had one and a bit rice crackers and about 30g of cheddar and one very small plum.

Then, because it didn't look very far on the map, we decided to hike to the summit. The elevation is only 213 metres after all.
With only one five minute stop to catch our breath we reached the top and had a gander at the view and some water as well as a nosh before we headed back down (much easier!). I had brought a baggie with mostly almonds, a few brazil nuts and some no-sugar-added dark chocolate chips. I had a small handful, then awhile later an even smaller handful (I'm guessing 60g total?) and another small plum.

Having made it successfully down the hill with no injuries we adjourned to Timmy's for coffee and (for me anyway) one timbit.
When I got home I was too tuckered out to think about dinner right away and ate the rest of our "trail mix" as I unpacked it.
Dinner was two slices (105g) of meatloaf that I had purchased yesterday at the Red Barn, some sauted baby bok choi from Sun Wing (also yesterday) and a side salad.

And for dessert the last of the diet fudgesicles. My mom had given me some Russell Stover's no-sugar-added chocolate treats this morning and I made the mistake of leaving them out on the dining room table. I had one then hid the rest away so I won't think about them.
Since I didn't weigh most of what I ate today I can only estimate with the help of fitday. I'm going to say about 1,500 calories and 68g of carbohydrates. If it's more, so what, I climbed a &*$#$*@# mountain today!

A lovely Sunday for a scooter run

As usual started my day with a big ole mug of coffee.
1/2 cup of yogourt and blueberries (50g) for breakfast.
Went to scooter meet-up and the Black Stilt was closed for the holiday weekend! What to do? We ended up at a Starbucks. I had a grande (that's medium anywhere else) americano and half of a Fruit and Grain bar. I looked up the bar on their website and was appalled to see that my half, that little tiny nosh in the picture, had 190 calories and 27g of carbohydrate (3g fibre and 5g protein). Not really healthy guys - especially if you eat a whole one! Andrew and Rob helped me out with the other half - thanks guys!
We rode up Oldfield Road, visited three farm "stands" AND went to the Red Barn Market on the way back. I got lovely little sweet tomatoes at Sun Wing and shared one with Doug as soon as I got home.
At the Red Barn Market I bought a big package of bacon "ends" odd slices and little chunks that didn't quite fit. With these two great ingredients it was inevitable that we had an old favorite for dinner - the BLT Salad. Okay - we also had a little turkey breast meat so it was almost a Club salad but the strongest flavours were the fresh tomatoes and bacon. Delish!
Afterwards a "diet" fudgesicle.
Some hours later I felt a little empty and realized that I really hadn't had much to eat today. Took advantage of the low calorie count (to this point) and treated myself to 40g of brazil nuts.
In spite of all the "fattening" food I ate today calories only at 1,302 and 66g of carbohydrates.
