What I ate for Friday, Sept 7th

Still achy and miserable. Coffee and a hard-boiled egg.More water and a scoop of whey protein powder.
Wanted something crunchy and salty - soy nuts (40g).
Celery for a snack.
Doug made yummy hamburgers on the bbq. Those are just jumbo white mushroom caps, not portabellos. Some cheese and a side salad.
Checked and watered my garden for the first time in awhile. Found lots of strawberries so ate them up with a piece of bresse bleu.
Also had most a red square flax cookie but didn't want to admit to myself so didn't take a picture. Before the cookies I was at 1,441 but it will have put me over by another 400 or so. Feeling depressed since I can hardly walk, can't go to the gym and am eating more when I'm not hungry again. Worried that if I don't feel better soon I'm going to really start losing ground.

Yesterday, I ate...

I was so much pain yesterday that had we not already been swamped and short-staffed I would have come home. I don't know what's wrong - even my sternum has "joint pain" - I'm hoping it's a reaction to the amoxicillin and will go away as soon as the medication leaves my system.

I couldn't go shopping and didn't make myself dinner - just ate what I could put my hands on. Didn't keep track in fitday either since sitting in front of the computer is uncomfortable. I'm home from work today and the pain is less intense since I'm just lying in bed - even now just typing this it's getting worse - please fill in your own captions ...

The aftermath of a holiday weekend...

...is absolute carnage at work. By the end of the day I made a comment that it had been a day and a half - my colleague shouted: "that was six weeks!"

Breakfast was coffee, two fried eggs and some bits of bacon.Coffee break.
Lunch was celery, jicama, radish, cheese (60g), turkey (40g) and salami (20g).
By afternoon break I was sweaty, tired and knees and feet hurt. I had the rest of my coffee and a half cup of cottage cheese.

Lucky for me Doug had dinner ready when I got home. We had chicken caesar with a couple of croutons for a treat.
A sugar-free creamsicle for dessert.
Had trouble with the munchies tonight - partly because I spent a couple of hours on the sofa icing various bit of sore anatomy, knee, feet, ankle - everything was tired and painful. Had a little bowl of mixed nuts and a diet pop.

So calories a little high today but I know for a fact that I worked them and more off! 1,548 calories and 39g carbohydrates.

Labour day picnic with the labour unions.

Had another night of interrupted sleep. When I did get back to sleep I slept in till about 10am.
Coffee.1/2 a large peach with 1/2 cup plain yogourt.
At the Labour Union picnic - I had a small black coffee and one bite of Doug's hot dog.
When we got home I was rummaging around in the fridge and found the left-over salsa from the party Saturday. I had it with a serving of the El Molino Fibre Select chips which, while fairly calorie-ridden are quite low in carbs. (50g chips = 260 calories, 28g carbs with 10g fibre and 7g of protein). I just found them one day at Safeway.
Pork chop done on the counter top grill (as was the zucchini) and a side salad.
Skinny Cow brand fudge bar.
Tea and four tiny Joseph's sugar-free cookies.
Finally some strawberries that we picked from our plants this afternoon that were just sitting on the counter - not really enough to do anything with - so I just ate them up.
According to fitday 1,410 calories and a whopping 91g of carbohydrates. Although that number includes the sugar alcohols in the fudge bar and cookies which may or may not affect my blood sugar.

Bad day for record-keeping

Managed to wake up in the middle of the night again - finally got back to sleep but that meant I woke barely in time to shower before heading out to scooter meet-up. Didn't even make coffee - had some yogourt and blackberries but only a few spoonfuls before abandoning them and making for...
Timmy's! I had a large coffee but still feeling bloated from last night didn't want a tim-bit.
We rode out to the Saanich Fair but I really wasn't feeling very well and decided to come home (via the market). A little while after I got home I realized that while tired and out of sorts I really was properly hungry. I took the half cup of Carol's brown rice/black bean/corn/pepper salad left from last night and used it as the base for an omelet with three eggs and a couple of slices of bacon.
I guess I have to admit that I've gotten myself re-addicted to desserts. I made a cup of tea and had two (half a serving) of these little Joseph's "sugar-free" cookies. They still have carbs of course, but 4 tiny cookies have less than 100 calories.
There was also a mug of coffee left-over from last night. I had put it, covered in the fridge yesterday and today made iced-coffee of it.
Again with the left-overs. Carol and Andrew were given this wild pig wine after introducing someone to the Pass the Pigs game. Since most of the Salt Spring Island Tournament Pigs team was at last night's bbq the wine came too. There was one good-sized glass left. I used half of it to cook some fish and prawns and drank the last 2oz. I was really very nice.
We had no plans for dinner but there was some nice halibut trimmings I hauled out of the freezer - with a dozen prawns and some garlic and mushrooms we had a cream sauce/chowder thing happening. It was really pretty good for an on-the-fly meal.
Some time later while sitting together in front of the computer I again wanted a sweetie. We shared the last 20g of nsa chocolate chips from the freezer. Although I feel badly that I'm craving sweets again, at least (outside of parties) I'm eating them in very small doses.
Having stayed up too late playing games Doug and I both needed a late-night snack. I had a diet soda and a few slices of salami meat-ends (about 20g).

Didn't make one entry into fitday today. I counting on the fact that I really only had two meals and a few small snacks to have kept my calories to a reasonable level. It's really hard to care about the record-keeping when sleep-deprived. I still care about the calories and carbs - just don't have any interest in the bookkeeping.

Poor sleep, long day, bought meals out, evening party

It's late, so this'll be brief. Coffee, Whey Gourmet (1 scoop).Coffee. 1/2 "health nut muffin" from patisserie.
2/3 container brown rice california roll.
rest of muffin.
Scooter gang over for BBQ - chicken satay, grilled peppers, zucchini, patty pan squash.
Carol's brown rice, black bean, corn and pepper salad. Rye/flax sourdough from patisserie.
Hi-fibre tortilla chips and salsa - I never did get to try any.
The lazy susan pastry wheel.
and berries and cream.
I took some berries and tastes of several desserts and coffee. I couldn't finish the desserts but felt overstuffed regardless.
Thousands of calories, hundreds of grams of carbs. Nuf said.
