Yay! Sushi!

Woke up around 5am again this morning - got up for a couple of hours but then went back to bed and slept in until 12:30! When I finally got up I had two cups of coffee.
Doug and I had decided to go out for dinner tonight and I didn't want to eat much early on so I had a hard-boiled egg and a piece (40g) of feta cheese. We knew we wanted Japanese so went into the first place we stumbled past Shiki Sushi. After spending rather a long time trying to decide what and how much we wanted to eat we went for a small bento box each... I chose the tempura with 6 pieces a little salad and some rice (I ate about 1/4 of the rice in the picture). There was also a piece of pineapple and a couple of orange slices with the presentation - I had half of each.

And we shared the Shiki Special Sushi platter. I had 3 1/2 pieces of nigiri and 3 pieces of the tuna roll, also most of the ginger. It wasn't the best sushi we've ever had but it was very good and we both admit we've missed having rice.
Later in the evening I felt I needed a little something. I had two nsa werther's candies and a 30g serving of Planter's macadamia cashew mix. How decadent!
No idea about calories but thinking since there was only one meal and a couple of snacks I probably didn't do too badly today.

Thursday - muffin for supper

Woke up very early (around 5am) decided that I could probably go to the gym so had a double scoop of Whey protein drink for breakfast with coffee and water. After the gym came home and scrounged around, nibbled on some celery.
Had slightly more than half a cup of cottage cheese (1/2 cup serving should weigh 125g).
And finally had a can of sardines before heading off to work.
Picked up a coffee and muffin at the patisserie and ordered a pumpkin pie for dinner at Mom's next weekend.
Because of a mis-communication I wasn't actually scheduled to work today but I stuck around for a few hours. When I got home I realized that Doug was working late and I had no plans for dinner other than the packed lunch I had taken to work. Eventually I made a pot of tea and after weighing my Apple-Ginger Bran muffin (230g!) I had it for dinner with some butter. Checking fitday they give 230g of bran muffin 679 calories. Since I don't have the recipe I'll just have to go with that and call it a rough estimate. I was delicious though, and very filling.
After Doug got home we watched TV together for a little while and I snacked on the veg I had prepared for work since I was feeling a little decadent about the muffin.
Calories 1,542 (including butter) and 121g of carbohydrates. (Keeping in mind this is just an estimate).

(Wednesday) Not only craving chocolate...

...but had rather a lot of it today.

Started (as we all do) with good intentions. Coffee and hot cereal made from flax and a little dried coconut, cinnamon and splenda with a dollop of cream.Coffee and 30g of filberts (hazelnuts).
Tuna salad for lunch with the usual radish, celery, jicama combo.
Not actually real food but very yummy - and only 60 calories.
Afternoon break, the rest of the coffee and a 20g portion of gouda.
Once again I had roast beef and cauliflower. No, really! Only there wasn't much left so I chopped it up and made an omelet. 80g beef, 30g cauliflower and three medium eggs.
Bought another Ross chocolate bar today. On the wrapper it says healthy and tasty. Tasty I get - but even with sugar alcohols replacing the sugar, how exactly is this a healthy?
You'd think the chocolate bar would be enough, but no, later on I had another fudge pop. This is really getting out of hand!
Total calories 1,988 and 59g of carbohydrate.

must have chocolate!

Still having strong chocolate cravings today. Had a scoop of chocolate flavoured whey protein powder for breakfast with my coffee.By coffee break I was quite hungry - tummy rumbles and all - took out both snacks I had packed but in the end didn't eat the cheese portion. The coffee and pecans filled me up enough to last until lunchtime.
Chicken salad with capers, mayo and sweet paprika. Jicama, celery and radishes.
I bought two Ross nsa chocolate bars while I was out doing errands at lunchtime. I had half of the dark bar after I finished my lunch.
At dinner I had (once again) roast beef, cauliflower and a salad.
And a fudge pop.
Later on I had 29g of hazelnuts and the other half of the Ross bar. Yum.
Total calories today 1,685 and 43g of carbohydrates. Reasonable and if I can have bits of chocolates and nuts within reason I shouldn't have any reason to "cheat".

and tomorrow I'll be back to work

Coffee.Didn't feel very hungry right away - didn't want to cook - had a hard-boiled egg that was sitting in the fridge.
The hard-boiled egg just made me hungry for more, so I had some cantaloupe (140g) with the last chunk of brie (38g).
After all that, waited until mid-afternoon by which time I was really hungry for something substantial. Made a wrap with roast beef and chicken, cucumber, red onion, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Yum.
A late dinner of last night's roast beef, more cauliflower (with a bit of butter) and the ubiquitous side salad.
Also ubiquitous (at least lately) the 40 cal fudge pop.
Still craving chocolate (hormones perhaps?) had a few pecan halves while I was waiting for the water to boil so I could make...
a mug of cocoa with splenda of course.
Totals for today 1,660 calories and 57g of carbohydrates.

For the moment I'm not going to worry about the calories, just keep taking my pictures and using fitday to keep track. One thing at a time...

Perhaps a bit better...

... but that could also be because I've done so little in the last three days. Felt nearly normal when I woke up this morning - a little energy and a little more interest in things. Started with coffee.
Bacon and eggs.
Went to Scooter meet not sure if I would be able to go for a ride or not. Had a large coffee and sat and chatted with my gang for about an hour. Decided that I really didn't feel up to it so headed home.
Went grocery shopping with Doug. Bought among other things some pecans. Discovered mid-afternoon I was quite hungry so had a little bowlful hoping it would be enough until dinner.
It wasn't, quite enough so I had a little piece of some nice chèvre cheese we picked up (after watching Battle Goat Cheese on Iron Chef America last night).
Dinner was roast beef (110g) and cauliflower (with butter) and a side salad.
And one more fudge pop.
Felt the need for a snack during the evening and unfortunately went back to the pecans. Because of that my calories are a bit higher today that I would have liked.
Calories 1,761 but only 37g of carbohydrates for the day.

Heavy cream is your enemy... aparently

Started off with coffee.85g of strawberries from my own little plants and 1/2 cup yogourt.

Two servings (30g) of pork rinds. That's the last of that temptation for awhile.Swiss cheese and celery. I started with a very small piece of cheese...

but real emmental is soooo good I had to have more. I also had lots more celery but that hardly counts towards either calories or carbs.
For dinner I made the recipe of Chicken breast in creamy mushroom sauce - only we didn't have breasts, only a couple of little thighs so I threw in some frozen shrimp that we'd had for almost too long. The sauce is mostly heavy cream with a little xanthan gum to thicken. It was so good I had another spoonful for seconds. When doing low-carb and not counting calories I never worried about this, however the sauce was about 300 calories all by itself! Also a small salad.

Have been craving chocolate for most of the day - had this little treat even though I wasn't really hungry after such a rich dinner.
Still craving chocolate later on. Made cocoa with cocoa powder, splenda and more heavy cream. Again lower in carbs - but much higher in calories.
Today's calories an apalling 1,878 and 51g of carbohydrates. I did my stretches and ab exercises but still didn't go to the gym. Hoping to have the energy to do something more useful tomorrow.
