Finally my weekend.

Very average breakfast. Two eggs, two little pork patties with my own seasoning, coffee.Coffee at coffee break.
Tuna salad today with just celery and radishes. I was so lazy last night I didn't want to fight with the jicama!
Sugar-free jell-o. Cherry and orange.
More coffee and some yogourt flavoured with Torani Caramel sugar-free syrup.
Burgers are starting to be a regular Saturday night thing around here. Tonight I also had 65g of sauted mushrooms along with 30g of cheese, a side salad and about two teaspoons of Maille dijon style mustard.
I was prepping the veg for short ribs (check the background) and had one celery stick left over so I ate it.
Company dropped by (Hi Kathleen!) so I helped myself to a beer. We talked so much that I didn't even finish it and poured the last four ounces into the short ribs.
With the three of us in the kitchen and the oven and dishwasher (and computer) on it was really warm so I went for the last sugar-free creamsicle. It was tasty but I wasn't really hungry so I gave the last third or so to Doug to finish off.

Total calories for today 1,502 and 34g of carbohydrates.

Long weekend? What long weekend?

Today is Friday but I still have to work tomorrow while everyone else gears up for Canada Day.
Pout.
Went to physio/exercise before work so started with coffee and another serving of the Whey Protein Shake. If the vanilla is this good, I'm going to have to buy the chocolate.Afterwards, I was quite hungry and had two of my homemade sausage patties and two fried eggs.
On the way to work I picked up an Iced Americano.
Dinner was lots of celery, radishes, 80g of left over roast beef and a couple of tablespoons of gravy.
For my evening break I had the last 50g of the recent piece of Bresse bleu, two strawberries and 58g (one slice) of cantaloupe.
When I finally got home Doug discovered the sugar-free, fudge bars in the freezer, so I had one too.
Totals for today 1,108 calories and 38g of carbohydrates.

Company means... bread! Homemade bread!

Coffee.
Two fried eggs, one bacon strip.
Morning break - which was actually three and a half hours after breakfast, 30g of almonds and coffee.
Lunch was tuna salad and the usual suspects (jicama, radish and celery).
Didn't have time at lunch to eat my jell-o so I had it for my afternoon coffee break with the last of the coffee.
Dinner tonight was catered by friend Kama. Honey garlic chicken wings (I had three pieces) celery and carrot sticks with a little sour cream dip (1 tbsp - somehow not in picture) and one slice of her homemade focaccia bread! Dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar! It was sooooo good! Okay enough with the exclamation marks, it's just been awhile since someone cooked, let alone baked for me.
After a swim we had a bite of cheese and strawberries.
Considering I felt like I was enjoying a feast tonight I did really well with 1,618 calories and about 45g of carbohydrates.

appointments in the morning, work in the afternoon

Up early to go to the orthotist for my new orthotics. They'll take awhile to get used to but I think they may help. Coffee and a some more of the Whey Protein shake for a quick breakfast.
Went straight to exercise after my appointment so was famished when I got home. Bacon and egg (2 each) and more coffee.
My columbine is blooming. And I had a sugar-free, fat-free creamsicle before heading out to work.
Dinner was a pork chop (110g), some green beans, a couple of tablespoons of unsweetened applesauce and a salad. On the side you can see calcium, potassium and glucosamine.
Rhubarb for dessert.
Still low on calories for the day and still hungry so three strawberries and 37g of my new favorite cheese, the Bresse Bleu.
Totals today 1,375 calories and 37g of carbohydrates.

Back up two pounds? What's up with that?

When I got weighed this morning I found that I was up almost two pounds from yesterday morning. I think I must have been dehydrated from a combination of beer, coffee and heavy labour. Now it's back. Oh well. Give me another week.

One slice bacon, two large eggs, coffee.Coffee and newsweek.
Lunch was a new product I though I'd try Ocean's Snack'n'Lunch wild salmon with sesame and ginger. The little tins are only 85g and really not enough to keep me going protein-wise. Also lots of celery, jicama and radish and cherry sugar-free jell-o.
By afternoon break I was actually hungry. I had 30g of cheddar and part of the bag of almonds about 20g worth.
For dinner we had slow-cooker pot roast. I ate 130g of beef, some celery root, fennel and a tiny bit of carrot that were cooked with the roast. Also the usual side salad.
We've had these in the freezer at least a week now and I haven't felt the need to try them until tonight. Creamsicle frozen dessert bars. Only 25 calories and 6g of carbohydrates each. Tasty but I liked the sugar-free fudge bars better.
We still have some bits of cheese left in the fridge from last week's fruit and cheese festival(s). Tonight I had some bleu, and a couple of other kinds that no longer have labels attached. They were all (40g) good and two large strawberries (64g).

Totals for today 1,434 calories and 42g of carbohydrates.

too busy shopping to eat

Slept in a bit because I woke up during the night. Wanted to go to physio/exercise early so I just had a glass of whey protein drink and my coffee before leaving. I had purchased the vanilla flavoured protein powder because I had some low-carb recipes that called for it as an ingredient but hadn't used it yet. As it turns out this brand and this flavour is really very yummy as a drink.
After exercising I came home and found that Doug was almost ready to leave to go downtown on an errand. I basically hijacked him and while he did get his 15 minute errand done, he ended up clothing shopping with me for about two hours. The good news is that I found a pair of pants size 16 that fit perfectly. Size 16! And I got a new bra that fits much better. While trying on the bras I suddenly felt a little light headed and realized that it was 2:30 and I had only had about 200 calories for breakfast. We headed up to the food court and found a Chinese fast food place with "Bourbon Chicken" which was basically barbecue and some chicken and mixed veg in black bean sauce. I input my best guess into fitday and came up with about 400 calories and 8-10g of carbs.
Dinner was late since lunch had been. Because we were out most of the afternoon we found ourselves at loose ends again for meal planning. We used the Clover Leaf Tuna Steaks and some lovely portabello mushrooms I found on sale yesterday. Sauted the mushrooms, heated the mild curry flavour tuna and poured it on top of a couple of cups of romaine.
Adding thing into fitday I find I'm at less than 800 calories for the day so I decide that I may as well enjoy the last 100g of the rhubarb crisp that I had planned to leave for Doug. With a couple of tablespoons of cream my total calorie count for today is still only 1,076 calories and less than 30g net carbohydrates.
I'll probably allow myself to enjoy a mug of decaf later this evening. Especially since when I got weighed this morning I was somehow down 2 pounds from a couple of days ago - in spite of yesterday's beer etc. Go fig.

Garden party?

Up early and had a big mug of coffee before heading out to do groceries. After groceries and before scooter meet-up I made an omelet for us both. White and portabello mushrooms, a little sour cream and a tiny bit of shredded cheese left over from last night. Two eggs each.
Large two-shot americano at the Black Stilt. Yes, the purse is actually very small.
Since the weather forecast hadn't been too good for scooting and since I'd been talking about it for weeks, I got Rob (with car) to help me carry home a couple of half barrels from the garden centre for the shrubs on my deck. They are actual, previously used for wine, wine barrels. The car smelled a little like the bus bin in a bar at closing. We drove home with the windows down all the way. After lugging two 1/2 barrels a dozen little plants and 3, 40l bags of soil upstairs and down the long hall we sat down and had a well-deserved beer.
Then after planting a little herb garden in a window box for Kama, Rob's financee, and transplanting my hydrangea Betty, we had another.
Dinner was roast chicken (150g), broccoli with a pat of butter and a side salad.
I made a tiny amount of gravy in case the chicken was dry but I think I was the only one to have some - here's half-eaten dinner with gravy - maybe 20ml total.
I made some dessert - rhubarb crisp. We ate it hot out of the oven with a little coffee cream. I input it into fitday and it came up with 278 calories and 53 carbohydrates for this serving had it been made with sugar. I used splenda to sweeten both the rhubarb and the crisp topping but did use a little whole wheat flour and rolled oats along with almond flour for the topping. The calories are probably pretty close but not the carb count.
Then we had coffee because it was good.
Totals including beers and crisp 1,506 calories and 103 carbohydrates (although given the artificial sweetener in dessert it's probably more like 60-65 carbohydrates for the day and much of that from the beer - ouch!).
