Okay, so we can't have company every night...

Pretty much as soon as Rob and Kama left last night Brian and Kathleen called about the new Doctor Who episode they had just watched. Turns out they'll both be away for the second episode so we invited them over (tonight was the easiest night all week) to watch The Shakespeare Code as well as the Weakest Link special.

This Morning:
I woke up too early and dozed until my alarm went off. Had to go in early today for a meeting so I was really tired and groggy. Made bacon and eggs and coffee for breakfast.Since I had a longer than normal morning I was quite hungry by the time for coffee break. I had the rhubarb that I had brought along as a desserty treat with my coffee.
Lunch was about 40g each of roast beef and turkey breast. God bless the Red Barn who actually roasts wholesome cuts and slices them as an alternative to processed "deli" meat. Also had 60g of cheeses and the usual assortment of crunchy raw veg.
Finished off the thermos of coffee.
Dinner was pork shoulder done in the slow-cooker with lots of garlic. Also 1/2 cup of broccoli and a side salad.
Right, so here's where the trouble started. I think my being tired and just sitting and watching TV with company instead of having a conversation led me to eat more than I needed (or even really wanted) to. I had a little bit more than I had last night of the fruit and cheese - not much mind you but I did have 4 of the rice crackers that I only had one of last night. Furthermore...
I had another glass of wine. Big glass but not lots of wine.
And because I knew both Brian and Kathleen (but especially Brian) loved them so much I dug out of the freezer a little bag of sugar-free chocolate covered almonds that had been in there for months (months I tell you). I had eight.
I tried to be as honest as possible on fitday and came up with the not to happy total of 1,886 calories and something in the neighbourhood of 50g of carbohydrates. Not good.

Company for snackies

Woke up feeling quite horrible this morning. Tired, weak, foul mood. Doug's in trouble.
Two eggs and two little patties of ground pork (Happy Island Pigs again). I made a spice mixture - mostly sage a little sweetener and made little 1 oz "sausage" patties.
Lunch is a hard-boiled egg and the rest of the yogourt and some more rhubarb.

Store-bought roasted chicken for dinner since I fell asleep after lunch and didn't wake until 5pm. Unheard of. I usually can't sleep during the day. Still a little crabby when I woke up but otherwise feeling better. Made coffee since it's what I do when I get up and I needed a little help. Also had the usual side salad with dinner but no veg since we knew there were lots more calories to come...We had Rob and Kama over for fruit and cheese this evening. I've known Rob for over a year now through SVIS (Scooter Group) but had never met his fiancee. I always thought that we had a lot in common and I'm kinda surprised it's taken us this long to get together. Here is a picture of the spread I put out on the coffee table for us to graze on. I had one piece of each kind of fruit and one slice of each kind of cheese.
I also had this much wine, and another glass with about half as much later on.
Since I didn't weigh any of the fruit or cheese I made a wild guess on fitday so I may or may not be at 1,250 calories and 32g net carbohydrates for the day.

Salt Spring Rally III - Day 3 Sunday

We made coffee to try and get going after a late night of nonsense and giggling and Pass the Pigs. Debra had bought some Salt Spring Organic Coffee. Mmmm coffee. Now I have to admit I've actually missed a picture here. While we were waiting for the ferry to take us over to Crofton we all had some hard-boiled eggs. I had one to but managed to somehow eat it without thinking about my camera. It may have had something to do with sleep-deprivation.

A short ride brought us to Chemainus where we always have brunch at Bonny Martin. I ordered my favorite the green onion, mushroom and cheese omelet and had a side salad instead of hash browns. Their house dressing is a lovely creamy dill that I always enjoy. If you actually read this blog regularly you may be thinking "but she has that omelet pretty regularly on weekends". Yes, this is true, but it was three or four years ago at Bonny Martin where I first had this combination and now I just make feeble copies at home.
One of the other attractions at this restaurant is their homemade jams. I think it was black current but I may have heard someone say loganberry. I asked Dick for a bite of toast just so I could taste it. Excellent.
On the way home we stopped in Cowichan Bay. Carol bought a "dark chocolate chip spelt cookie" and offered me a piece. It was pretty tasty.
Our next stop was Cherry Point Vineyards where I tasted five different wines. I know it's hard to see the amount in the glass but it's really not more than two sips. So 10 sips of wine. I liked the Pinot Gris and the Solera Blackberry, a port.
Finally home around 5:30. After unpacking, a little sorting and telling of stories Doug made me dinner of pork chop with applesauce and a side salad.
While we were watching yesterday's Doctor Who "Blink" (very scary) on the computer I wanted to try some of the cheeses I had picked up. Doug and I split these plates equally. Tomorrow I'll start weighing things again.
After overdoing it for the past couple of days I really ate pretty lightly today. For those familiar with low-carb I'm testing moderate on the old ketostik.
