One step at a time

Today I didn't go to the gym or even work. My sinus headache is still around, sometimes my ear or throat hurts too but not all the time. I really, really don't want to take antibiotics for this since I'm convinced that's what caused this recurring condition to flare up in the first place.
If you're thinking "hey, that's the same picture as yesterday's coffee" well you're right. I didn't remember to take a picture this morning. I did however have a mug of coffee identical to this one.For a brunch type meal I used the tiny bit of left-over bbq pork chop-suey from Tuesday night's dinner (about 1/2 cup), chopped as the base for an 2 egg omelet/fritatta thingy. It was surprisingly delicious.

About mid-afternoon I had some veg. that I had previously bagged for work but never eaten.

And a single 15g serving of pork rinds, hot and spicy flavour. This is significant because much like potato chips it's really, really hard to stop at one serving. Today I did.
Doug picked up two kinds of dinner sausage at the butcher's on his way home from work. The turkey sausage with feta and sundried tomato is my favorite but they frequently have trouble with keeping the meat in the casing - that's it on the far right of the picture. Also on my plate is half of one of their huge beef sausages (English bangers) just the half weighed in at 50g! Also lots of broccoli and our usual salad.
Having re-discovered them in the freezer I was ready for another sugar-free, fat-free fudge pop.
A few hours later I had a pot of tea and half of one of the Flaxmachine cookies (one cookie is actually three servings so I always weigh them).
Total calories today 1,453 and 53g of carbohydrates.

Woke up before the alarm and lay in bed awhile. I'm only working half a day today so I can take it easy getting going. Coffee. One scoop of Whey Gourmet protein - chocolate.
Did several sets of abdominal and leg exercises since I'm really not in any shape to go to the gym. Minor progress at least. Sardines in mustard sauce, 100g of strawberries and 1/2 cup yogourt.
For some reason I found even half a day of work pretty stressful - must be the impending strike. Had a snack of raw cauliflower, celery, jicama and radishes.
Doug made us lovely big Chef Salads for dinner. Lettuce, tomato, cucumber 20g each of roast beef, ham and chicken, one medium hard-boiled egg and 32g of shredded cheese. 2 tablespoons of creamy dressing on top.
These have actually been in the freezer since the weekend and I can't believe I haven't wanted one before now. Smaller serving size than the last ones we bought - only 40 calories each.
Being barely over 1,000 calories after dinner I enjoyed having a pot of tea and not quite 2 servings (48g) of Flaxmachine cookie for a snack. I'm convinced that these are good food, sweetened with splenda, dark rye flour and flax seeds but they are very calorie dense so can't have them often.

Total for today 1,271 calories and 57g of carbohydrates (less if you don't count polyalcohols). Feels good to be in control again.

one day closer to our anniversary dinner

Coffee, one strip bacon, two eggs.Short-staffed at work so had coffee break while working... so not really a break, just coffee.
Celery, jicama, mushrooms, salami (two slices) turkey (50g) - under the turkey, 30g each of brie and sharp cheddar. It was so tasty and filling that I didn't even eat the yogourt that's sitting in front of my water bottle.
Got another of the whole wild pink salmon on sale at the market. That's about 140g worth and 37g of green beans. Lots of butter though, and a side salad.
It was a pretty light day calorie-wise so I felt fine having a big piece of a splenda-sweetened "Flaxmachine" cookie and a big mug of de-caf awhile after dinner. That really filled me up where the fish hadn't so much.
Totals: 1,454 calories and 42g of carbohydrates.

Coming along slowly

Coffee. Two eggs and two strips of bacon (more brunch than breakfast).
A Lucerne "ice cream" bar.
Iced coffee.
Short ribs braised in ale (110g meat and some jus) over 60g green beans and the usual side salad.
This is a splenda-sweetened Powerflax cookie from Red Square Bakery in Vancouver. While they are quite high in fat it's the good fat that occurs in flax seed. This little chunk of cookie has over 200 calories but 8 grams of fibre. Unfortunately I need fibre right now - so I might as well enjoy it!
1,496 calories and 34g of usable carbohydrates. Just about exactly on goal.
